Focus Locally. Enable National Collaboration.
Strategy

The Big Picture
While we have great passion and vision and believe that "all things are possible," we are also realistic and pragmatic. We have no need or desire to become an organization larger than required to accomplish our mission at a meaningful level. We realize also that we are not alone, in some respects, not even unique. There are thousands of other organizations that work each day in furtherance of ideas and ideals that are synergistic with ours. Our fundamental strategy is to use our resources helping others do what is important to us: that which supports our Mission and is ideologically aligned with our Points of Focus. This fundamental strategy has two elements:

Focus Locally, Enable National Collaboration.

Focus Locally
More can be done from the inside out than the outside in. In contrast with externally designed and imposed programs, local initiatives tend to better address local needs and more effectively mobilize and utilize resources in support of those needs. Locally initiated and focused programs are more sustainable and create additional community awareness, involvement, and responsibility.

From the wisdom and humility of others we understand it is not necessary to do great things, but simply to do many small things lovingly. The Foundation's initiatives and programs will continue to reflect this understanding as we do "many small things" locally and work to enable others to do the same nationally.

Enable National Collaboration
Resources in non-profits are limited and precious. They can ill afford to be spent inefficiently or unnecessarily. Our observation of non-profit organizations across the country is that many great programs are created and great ends are achieved. Some of these programs require arduous and expensive efforts resulting in valuable experience where usable know-how is created.

Unfortunately for many independent non-profits, there are few vehicles for making this valuable knowledge and know-how available to different groups working toward similar ends. As a result, many wonderful initiatives never achieve fruition or sustainability, because they spend their resources reinventing programs already designed and functioning in other organizations.

The Foundation utilizes our technology and human assets to create centralized information exchange and communications capabilities. These resources support knowledge sharing and the development and implementation of repeatable processes that can be efficiently adapted to local needs and circumstances.
